Friday was the first day of the 2008 U.S. Offshore Championship, sponsored by Rolex Watch U.S.A. and Dry Creek Vineyard.  Sailed for the first time in Tarten 10s, this year's host is Columbia Yacht Club in Chicago.

The breezes on Lake Michigan were light and the day was sunny with 5 to 8 knots of breeze from the northeast.  Three races were sailed with Rick Strilky currently leading after posting two 1st's and a 3rd
