 Weather Conditions

Friday, July 11

The second day of racing brought breezy and challenging conditions again.  The puffs went from 25 to 0, but the girls did a nice job of connecting the puffs and hanging in there.   The sailors have benefited from their experience sailing in these breezes.  For some, this is far more wind than they have been accustomed to at home.

A total of four races were sailed today, bringing the  total races for the regatta to seven and giving the girls the opportunity to drop their lowest score.  Sydney Bolger and Caitlin Beavers maintained their first place position with just 11 points.  The 2nd place boat of Eliza Richartz and Morgan Russom remained the same from yesterday as well.  Grace Lucas and Jane Rew of Bay Head Yacht Club took over 3rd place today from Sally Mace and Carly Shevitz.  Second and third place are separated by just 3 points.

Tonight the competitors are spending the evening with their host families.  Plans range from the weekly Jazz and Blues by the Bay concert in Sausalito to dinner in downtown San Francisco and even shopping at Bloomingdales.  Still, an early night is planned.  Tomorrow is the final - and deciding - day of the 2008 U.S. Junior Women's Doublehanded Championships.

The second day of racing kept Sydney Bolger and Caitlin Beavers in the lead.
