SPRING MEETING

Report to the Board of Directors
1. Art
Stevens' Resignation:
Chairman Art Stevens
resigned at the end of January and per the By-laws, Vice Chairman Dan
Mangus, was elected Chairman, and John Williams was elected as Vice Chairman
for the remainder of the term.
The Multihull Council
wants to give a big Thank You to Art for all his time and energy, and
especially for his love of introducing youth to sailing.
2. Hobie
Alter Cup:
The 2004 US SAILING Multihull Championships for the Hobie Alter Cup will be
held at Roton Point Yacht Club June 16-20, 2004 on Hobie 16s.
Action Item:
Annual Request for
$5,000 to support the Hobie Alter Cup event.
The 2005 Hobie Alter Cup
event will be held early April 2004 at the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, Long
Beach, CA on Hobie Tigers.
3. 2004
US SAILING Youth Multihull Championships:
The 2004 event will be held on Hobie 16s at the Sea Cliff Yacht Club, Long
Island, NY June 25, 26, 27 with June 24th as the arrival date.
We expect 30 teams or 60 youths to participate.
The Multihull Council
supports the ban of inflatable life jackets at Youth events and has made it
a requirement for our youth championship event.
4. Sailor
Athlete Council
Membership Drive:
SAC Chairman,
Dean Brenner is requesting that current members of US SAILING register today
as athletes and that those sailors who are not members, join now and
register as an athlete and gain a greater voice. The MHC supports this
initiative and will help spread the word.
5. Adjournment:
The meeting
was adjourned at
4:40pm. The next meeting of the MHC will be held in October at Portland,
Oregon.
The Multihull Council
wants to applaud the progress of Cheyenne, the 125 foot catamaran
that is now 5 days ahead of the Round the World Record.
