OFFSHORE TEAMS COMMITTEE

MISSION STATEMENT

The Offshore Teams Committee selects and coordinates U.S. offshore teams for
international events that require nomination of a national team and assists selected
team members in their preparation for competition in international team events
including provision of team management and training support when required.

TEAM EVENTS IN 2006

2006 ROLEX COMMODORE?S CUP:  The Royal Ocean Racing Club has
announced that the 2006 Rolex Commodore?s cup will be held in Cowes,
Isle of Wight from Sunday, June 25 to Sunday, July 2, 2006. This is an
International Team Regatta for IRC (Endorsed) boats.

CHALLENGES: Challenges shall be lodged by a Member National
Authority. Challenges shall be made on or before
Monday 22nd
May 2006. Late challenges may be accepted at the discretion
of the RORC

 

NUMBER OF TEAMS: Each Member National Authority may enter
up to 4 teams of IRC (endorsed) boats.

 

BOAT/TEAM ELIGIBILITY: A team shall consist of three boats,
one from each of the following rating bands:

 

Class 3

 

0.980 - 1.039

 

DLR not exceeding 215

Class 2

 

1.040 - 1.104

 

DLR not exceeding 200

Class 1

 

1.105 - 1.320

 

DLR not exceeding 200

 

(DLR = Displacement Length Ratio - as printed on each boat's IRC
(Endorsed) certificate)

Note: The rating bands are based on 2005 TCC and the RORC
reserves the right to amend these class limits when TCC 2006 are
known.

Each boat shall have:

a. a valid IRC (Endorsed) certificate 2006 (see NoR 9). Note: Boats
rated under IRC for the use of moveable and/or variable ballast,
for the purpose of increasing stability, are not eligible.

b. an SSS (Stability and Safety Screening) Numeral of 20 or more
or a minimum STIX numeral of 23 with a minimum AVS (angle of
vanishing stability) of 130 - 0.005 x m (where m is minimum sailing
weight in Kg).

 

NATIONALITY: At least 50% (rounded up e.g. a crew of 9 = 5) of
the crew of each boat on board in any race shall comprise
individuals who are Nationals of the country of the relevant team or
individuals who have since 1 June 2005 had their principal residence
in that country or individuals who were born in that country.
Proof of Nationality, residence or birth may be required.

 

ISAF COMPETITOR CLASSIFICATION CODE: All crew members
shall classify online. Any crew member not classified will be
assumed to be Group 3.

Not more than 25% (rounded down) of each crew shall be Group 3.
The remainder of the crew on each boat may be Group 1 or Group 2
provided that at least 50% (rounded up) are Group 1. Owners are
strongly advised to check carefully the status of each crew member
before competing.
