Olympic & Paralympic Games

The Games of the XXXI Olympiad will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5-21, 2016.

Equipment:

Fifteen athletes will represent the United States of America in ten Olympic classes:

Men’s events:

  • 470, two-person dinghy
  • 49er, two-person high performance skiff
  • Finn, one-person heavyweight dinghy
  • Laser, one-person dinghy
  • Nacra 17 (mixed), multihull
  • RS:X, windsurfer

Women’s Events:

  • 470, two-person dinghy
  • 49erFX,  two-person high performance skiff
  • Laser Radial, one-person dinghy
  • Nacra 17 (mixed), multihull
  • RS:X, windsurfer

Six athletes will represent the United States of America in three Paralympic classes:

  • 2.4mR, one-person keelboat (open)
  • SKUD-18, two-person keelboat (mixed)
  • Sonar, three-person keelboat (open)

Olympic & Paralympic Trials:

US Sailing and the Olympic Sailing Committee released selection procedures for the 2016 Olympic Team on December 12, 2014. Selection procedures for the 2016 Paralympic Sailing Team will be released in early 2015.
