Sailing Counselor

"Our sailing program has been so much better this summer — more fun for our campers, more organized, and safer than ever — thanks to the great training our sailing staff received from Craig Perez, who conducted the Sailing Counselor course here during our training week. We have a big sailing trip (12 miles round trip) each session, and it’s always full of talented young sailors. Thanks, US SAILING!"

Powerboat Program

"Just wanted to thank you for coordinating this weekend's Safe Powerboat Handling Class at New York Maritime College. The course (and exceptional instructor) far exceeded my expectations. This was a great opportunity to evaluate this course for use as part of the College's offerings for students and extracurricular programs for the public. As someone who sat through the 100% classroom courses by the USCG Aux., Power Squadron and even Sea School's Launch Operator's course and who is responsible for repairing the boats used in this course I believe I have a unique perspective. The hands-on nature of the US Powerboating course is infinitely more valuable to the student and their potential employer while being very respectful of the equipment (the first day students did not get above 5 mph) of the host facility.

Look forward to the instructor's course and the incredible potential for this course at New York Maritime College. Please let me know what, if any, special arrangements we need to make for the instructor's course. Thanks!"

"Last weekend we had our big Birthday Regatta and Leukemia Cup weekend and this year it included a Friday “Eventagram Centerboard Challenge” too. Pat Blumm and I were each driving a safety boat during heavy wind and about 10 boats went over during the event, including 4-5 turtles. Little did I know during your powerboat course that I would need to use those skills so soon or so much! And we were a sharp team, thanks to you. The highlight was when Pat and I both approached a turtled Buccaneer 18 with a collapsed centerboard. Pat took command and told the crew what we were going to do. He instructed them to tie a line around the far shroud while I headed for the bow. He pulled, I held and then I headed for the mast to bring the boat upright and we had that guy going again in just a few minutes. It was dazzling.
Cheers, Mike"
