Recently, at the Pan American Games, US Sailing’s President, Cory Sertl, joined Team USA at the sailing venue in Paracas, Peru. Cory is a decorated sailor in her own right and has even collected a few medals with one of our 2019 U.S. Pan Am Games Team athletes, Jody Starck. The 2019 U.S. Team Racing Championship for the historic George R. Hinman Trophy is coming to spectacular Newport Beach, Calif. this week. This US Sailing National Championship, hosted by Newport Harbor Yacht Club, features three days of racing beginning Friday, August 16 through Sunday, August 18. The 2019 U.S. Team Racing Championship is sponsored by Hobie Polarized and Sperry.

In the Men’s fleet, Stu McNay (Providence, R.I.) and Dave Hughes (Miami, Fla.) finished in eighteenth overall as the highest placed U.S. boat. The top-three U.S. representatives in the Women’s fleet, Atlantic Brugman (Winthrop, Mass) and Nora Brugman (Winthrop, Mass.), Nikole Barnes (Miami, Fla.) and Lara Dallman Weiss (Shoreview, Minn.), and Carmen Cowles (Larchmont, N.Y.) and Emma Cowles (Larchmont, N.Y.), finished in 30th, 31st, and 32nd, respectively.
Sunday’s finale on San Francisco Bay capped the third and final day of racing at the 2019 Chubb U.S. Junior Sailing Championships, hosted by the Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation (PYSF) and the Club at Westpoint.
