Tomorrow, the world’s best youth sailors will begin racing at the pinnacle youth sailing competition, the 2019 Hempel Youth Sailing World Championships. In Gdynia, Poland, more than 400 sailors representing 66 nations will compete across nine youth disciplines. The events include Boy’s and Girl’s 29er, 420, RS:X, and Laser Radial, as well as the Mixed Nacra 15 class.

The Championship occurs annually at various organizations around the country. Each year, the event hosts female singlehanded sailors to compete for the winner’s title. This year, Richmond Yacht Club will host 43 sailors, competing across two classes. Racing begins tomorrow, Thursday, July 11 and will conclude Saturday, July 13.
The 2019 Laser Standard World Championships have wrapped, concluding the first event of the 2020 U.S. Sailing Olympic Trials. After six days of racing, three athletes finished in the top third of the fleet, one just outside the top-ten.

Cameron Feves (Long Beach, Calif.) and his team representing the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club won the 2019 U.S. Youth Match Racing Championship for the Rose Cup. Feves and crew, including Lukas Kraak, Justin Zmina, and Taylor Milefchik earned the title on Sunday, following three days of closely contested match racing between 10 teams on San Diego Harbor.

The pinnacle youth sailing event in the United States is approaching with the start of the 2019 U.S. Youth Sailing Championships. Annually, this US Sailing National Championship welcomes the top competitive U.S. youth sailors under 20. This year, the Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club will host 83 youth sailors, competing across four classes. The event begins Friday, June 21 and will run through Tuesday, June 25.
