The premier sailing event for youth sailors in the United States gets underway on Sunday in the first of four days of racing at the 2018 U.S. Youth Sailing Championships, hosted by the Carolina Yacht Club in Wrightsville Beach, N.C.
Conditions for day two of the 2018 Clagett Regatta and the U.S. Para Sailing Championships, hosted by Sail Newport, was a complete 180 on day one with a gray, overcast day greeting the 44 sailors.
Newport turned on the charm Friday for the 46 sailors racing in the 2018 C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta and the U.S. Para Sailing Championships.
For the 46 sailors who are attending the 16th annual C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta and the 2018 U.S. Para Sailing Championships in Newport RI, two days of coaching will be put to use tomorrow when the racing begins Friday.

The premier event in international youth sailing, the 2018 Youth Worlds (July 14–21, Corpus Christi, Texas) is expected to include competitors from over 70 nations. The event is set to be held in U.S. waters for the first time since Newport, Rhode Island hosted the regatta in 1996, and is open to sailors under age 19.
The Volvo Ocean Race is in Newport, R.I. for the lone North American Stopover of the 2017-2018 round-the-globe sailing race and US Sailing is thrilled to have a unique opportunity to participate in this exhilarating event and the festivities and educational activities involved on site.
