Houston Sends US Sailing Team To Rio In Style

Houston, Texas – The U.S. National Sailing Team received a rousing send-off from hundreds of junior sailors, families, Olympians and fans at Houston Yacht Club on Wednesday as the team prepares to head to Brazil. The Send-Off Party coincided with the U.S. Optimist Class National Championship, allowing scores of future Team USA hopefuls to meet the team headed to Brazil.

The packed event featured the first public screening of Uncharted Waters, an unprecedented feature-length look at Olympic and Paralympic sailing.

Addressing the sizable and energized crowd was Houston Yacht Club Commodore Gordie Keenan, Managing Director of Olympic Sailing Josh Adams, President of theUS Sailing Board of Directors Bruce Burton, NBC Olympics Sailing Commentator Gary Jobson, High Performance Director Charlie McKee, Olympic Medalists J.J. Fetter and Pamela Healy, and Executive Director of US Sailing Jack Gierhart, and the athletes of the 2016 National Team.
