BRISTOL, R.I. (December 4, 2019) – US Sailing is honored to announce a partnership with the Leukemia Cup Regatta, a series of 45 sailing events taking place throughout North America benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Through this new partnership, US Sailing aims to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure all forms of blood cancer by inspiring its members to support and participate in Leukemia Cup Regattas around the country.
US Sailing will also support its members who are already participating in these regattas with their fundraising efforts. For every person who joins or renews their US Sailing membership through the Leukemia Cup Regatta program, $10 of their membership will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will be allocated directly to their fundraising website, so before they go out and ask for support from their friends, family and contacts, they will have the support of US Sailing.
“We are honored to partner with the Leukemia Cup Regatta to support such a great cause for cancer research and improve the quality of life for patients and their families,” said Jack Gierhart, Chief Executive Officer of US Sailing. “We all know fellow sailors or have friends and famly that have been afflicted with these terrible blood diseases. We are excited to engage the passion and reach of our members through this program and leverage the great sport of sailing to advance the LLS programs and mission.”
Leukemia Cup Regatta fundraising helps support life-saving research and patient services, bringing hope to patients and their families. Since the inception of the Leukemia Cup Regatta in 1988, over $70 million has been raised to help advance the Leukemia Lymphoma & Society’s mission.
“US Sailing’s involvement and the generosity of the sailing community will enable LLS to help more patients and their families who are on the front lines of the cancer battle,” said Gary Jobson, National Chairman Emeritus of the Leukemia Cup Regatta and a Lymphoma survivor. “I am living proof of the research and treatment advances.”
