US Sailing launched the Sailing Officials Automated Reporting System (SOARS) version 2.0 on Monday, October 24, 2016.

US Sailing’s estimated 1,000 certified race officials use SOARS to keep track of their events, courses and continuing education. The system simplifies the process for the race official committees, who manage the certification of officials, to easily review members’ experience and evaluate their qualifications.

SOARS was developed in the mid 1990s by Sandy Grosvenor, former chair of the US Sailing Judges Committee. It is the only system of its kind, and has continued to support the race community well over the years.

Upgrade Improvements:

  • SOARS is more reflective of the types of roles US Sailing race officials perform.
  • Significantly increases its flexibility and functionality.
  • Improves the look and feel of the system.
