If you are part of a double handed offshore mixed crew one male and one female sailing team (please see NOR for the specific definition for mixed crew and World Sailing Transgender Policy) and interested representing the USA at the 2025 Offshore Double Handed World Championship, submit your application for consideration in the process outlined below.
US Sailing, along with other Member National Authorities (MNAs), has been invited to apply for entry in the event. US Sailing will request two invitations during the first phase of registration, and hopes to be invited to nominate one, and possibly a second, team to participate in the 2025 event. This is the second edition of the Offshore Doublehanded World Championship will be held in Cowes, Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom, from September 22 to October 1, 2025 using the Sun Fast 30 One Design. “The Royal Ocean Racing Club is proud to be hosting the Offshore Double Handed World Championship based at our newly redeveloped Cowes Clubhouse,” commented RORC CEO Jeremy Wilton in the World Sailing press release. “The racing area in the Solent and English Channel is one of the most historic and challenging racing locations in the sport. It is complex, offering many tactical and strategic possibilities. We have great confidence that the RORC Race Team will use the best of their abilities to deliver a truly world class event.” The fleet will race in the identical Sun Fast 30 One Design, one of the first production model sailboats built from recyclable resin.
US Sailing has published Selection Procedures and teams are invited to apply for consideration by the deadline, midnight EDT Friday, May 16, 2025, by 11:59 PM. Applications are now open and can be found HERE.
Key elements being considered by the US Sailing International Selection Committee include:

- Co-Skippers must be current members of US Sailing, and each must have a World Sailing Sailor ID
- Teams must meet the requirements in the Notice of Race
- At least one crewmember must have a current World Sailing Offshore Personal Survival Course “World Sailing Approved” Or US Sailing Sanctioned International Offshore Safety at Sea with Hands-On Training Certificate
- At least one crew member shall have an appropriate radio operation license recognized by a national authority
- Both crew members shall be familiar with First Aid procedures, hypothermia, drowning, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and relevant communications systems
- Each athlete must be national of the United States and present proof of nationality (passport) or have an approved exemption and provide proof of said exemption at the time of selection. For additional information regarding an athlete who is a national of two or more countries, has changed his or her nationality, or acquired a new nationality, refer to the Olympic Charter (Rule 41)
